This is a painting ive been working on for a long time, and it really hasnt turned out all that spectacular. oh well.
the figure "flying" at the top is supposed to symbolize organized religion, and almost specifically, the catholic church. It resembles pyramid head to suggest a negative connotation. the shape of a pyramid (as its coat roughly makes, in addition with its helmet) has always symbolized a hierarchy to me, and thats what it symbolizes here. It has many tones of white, grey and black, and you may interpret that how you want.
the background and the bottom of the painting are black and grey mostly just to emphasize the white tones in the painting, so theres not much to explain there. its just to emphasize the mood as well.
the gray figure is a human, who has become "crucified" on a cross-shaped piece of wood, with strings running to its feet and hands, suggesting the figure is a puppet. he cannot control himself, which is shown with him rising up toward the top figure. can you tell which direction the person is facing? i found it hard to make it even look like a person, because it is a very difficult perspective to do it from, especially in painting.
there are crosses in the background to also reinforce the religious message in this piece.
i am a Christian, but i find the catholic church to do absolutely ludicrous at times. i just thought i would be edgy and paint something anti-religious. dont take it too seriously, im not here to bash anyone. although i guess thats hippocritical to say because of the pictures blatant message. oh wails.
this painting is technically unfinished. i dont know if i will do more with it.
Acrylic paint on cardboard
inspired by PyroJesus. drawn while i was in church. HA!
the subject matter is not my cup o joe - but I enjoy the painting nonetheless -
the wings look excellent - especially the one on the right side - pyramid heads are slightly overused but you did the shading quite nice - I like the man who is getting crucified - I like the clothing and how you did his hair -
the colours are nice (or lack of) - definitely a great tone -
-
I am tired so I am sorry if this is hard to understand -

looks great -
i knew this wasnt your favorite subject matter... but thanks anyway. i was rather proud of the LEFT wing, and the coat. haha, im a leftist!
you liked the right wing? wtf? i felt so bad when i was painting that because i was messing it up SO badly.
i might add a really weird element to this, but i dont want to mess it up... maybe i wont then. ugh.
thanks!
its fine... im glad you like the wings. i was rather proud of the left one, but i didnt like the right one. i failed to replicate the technique i used in the first one. ugh. oh well.
thanks anyways!

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
