This is under "Abstract" because I painted it expressively, and i have abstracted the image by breaking it down into dashes and blocks of color. I hope that makes sense.
This is the self-portrait assignment that my teacher requires all her studio art students to do before they graduate. i decided to just take a reference image and run with it without any real intention in how it would turn out. my education from the past blended with the capricious spirit of making art and this is the result! i am really happy with it and i think it is representational of who i have become over the years.
"Sad Girl" is the name of one of my favorite songs by Ten in the Swear Jar. It adds a layer of ambiguity to the painting as well, so that works too. I just cant help but put text in my paintings.
This is the final painting i have done during high school. onto the future!
I think this is a good job. I like the glasses and the reflection they give and the phrase "sad girl" does give it a sad look. The power of suggestion.
Hope your teacher enjoyed it....they should.

In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
